On our journey to improve our support for nonprofit website communicators we added a few more tools to the WordPress sites of our WP4Good club members.
You might seen some changes in your WordPress Admin Menus and your list of Plugins.
The plugin is part of our “Peace of Mind” hosting. With the help of this plugin, we update your website’s Themes and Plugins once a week, mostly over the weekend. After dealing with a couple of breaches, that might have been avoided by updating older plugins sooner we thought we should add a layer off protection for our club members.
It doesn’t keep anyone from going ahead and updating when you see that there are new versions available, as many of you are doing so diligently. But if you don’t visit your website as often as updates are released, we’d want to make sure nothing happens when no one is looking.
With this tool, we also obtain an additional update once a month, and we remove spam comments, old revisions and we clean up the database.
Support for WP4Good members –
There is a new Menu item in the left Admin menu called “Support”. Sending a message to use, is now just a click away. You can send us a message right from your WordPress workspace. You don’t have to log into anything else or switch to your email program. Your message will arrive in our inbox immediately. The email goes to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Through the sponsorship of Pauli Systems, we can provide you with Video Tutorials teaching WordPress users how to manage WordPress, Jetpack, and Yoast SEO
The Video Tutorials are already updated with WordPress 4.9 content. So check them out
To provide you with these two services, we installed two plugins “WP101” and “WP4Good Watch”. Please do not remove them.
Monthly WP4Good Club One-on-One Calls
WP4Club members can have a free hour of consulting per month. We reserve weekly slots for it on our calendar and you are welcome to book it via our public calendar. You’ll receive instant confirmation. A day before you will receive the online video conference information via email. You are always welcome to send me an email with your questions. But I also know that it’s sometimes easier to show things and talk it over face-to-face than putting it in an email. We will have regular monthly office hours starting in July.
WP4Good Office Hours follow this format:
- Introduction of participating members & guests
- Announcements, News and upcoming events from the WordPress universe (releases, discussions, plugins, services) and
- Q & A for members.
- Plans and topic requests for next month’s office hours.
Our online conferencing tool of choice is Zoom, which allows for easy video conferencing and anyone can share their screens, to show or demonstrate their issues. We can all see it and offer suggestions and solutions. The recording will be available in the members only section on the website after the event for members who were not able to join or for reference and archive.
We will send reminders, so you will not miss out on the opportunity.
